Off To A Running Start For 2025

Across Australia, 12 rural regional palliative medicine services from six jurisdictions have now joined the RRIPM collaboration, with the shared aim to support each other and improve opportunity for trainees to access rural specialty training.

The degree of enthusiasm and depth of knowledge and experience on offer from clinicians working across these diverse services is exceptional and bodes well for the future of rural training.

In March 2025 a co-design workshop will bring representatives from RACP and RRIPM sites together to explore important enablers including criteria for optimal site accreditation, integrated rural terms and appropriate models of rural supervision aligned with the new palliative medicine training curriculum.

It is pleasing to see momentum building with tangible action in support of the RACP Rural Regional and Remote Physician Strategy, with RRIPM well positioned to show proof of concept and lead the way for other specialties in future.
